North Hills International School

Welcome to the Primary School

Akwaaba!

At North Hills International School, we encourage students to always do their BEST in a safe and nurturing environment.

The primary programme offers students a dynamic experience designed to support their educational growth and social-emotional needs. Academic excellence is a foundational part of what we do here and also just the beginning.

Alongside committed and talented facilitators, our students grow as people, always refining and developing their own beliefs and values. We encourage exploration. We teach students how to apply a critical lens to the world around them. We affirm that Lakeside is a place where every student can bring their full self.

At each level, students are challenged academically and personally to learn and grow. Classes are small – average class size is 17 students – and facilitators are available to work with students one-on-one and in small groups. We strive to provide an equitable learning environment for all students and we believe every student should have an equal opportunity to participate in and contribute to the life of the school.

Our Co-curricular programme is on the top with a range of meaningful activities to choose from.

Academic Programme

The Primary School caters to students from year 1 to year 6 (6 to 11 year olds). While the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science follow the UK Cambridge curriculum; other subjects such as History and Geography follow the English National Curriculum with components of the local subjects (Twi)

Our Year 6 students take the Cambridge Primary Checkpoint Examinations in English, Mathematics and Science during the month of April.  The scripts are marked externally in the UK which allows the School to measure its achievements against other Cambridge Schools across the globe.

Field trips are inculcated into the curriculum to enable students to have a feel of real-life situations of what is taught in the classroom.
